Don’t write off the season just yet. Through all the early performance problems and criticisms, the Wildcats are not in a horrible position in at this stage of the season. The Kentucky Wildcats limped back home this weekend after its third consecutive loss to a ranked team, dropping a game to North Carolina that wasn’t a blow out, but also wasn’t all that close. In addition to the angst caused by losing to a rival like the Tar Heels, Tubby Smith and his team have been the subject of intense criticism that has grown and festered from media and fans that are impatient with the squad’s lack of success in the early going. The University of Kentucky football team has accepted a bid to the Music City Bowl, where it will face Clemson Dec. 29 in Nashville, Tenn.
The official announcement will come at a news conference in Commonwealth Stadium's Wildcat Den Sunday at 6:30 p.m., but the Music City Bowl's website revealed the matchup earlier on Sunday.
UK (7-5, 4-4 Southeastern Conference) hasn't played in a bowl game since 1999, when it lost to Syracuse in the Music City Bowl. The Wildcats' last bowl win came in 1984, a 20-19 win against Wisconsin. More... | Grid News

University of Kentucky athletics director Mitch Barnhart deserves a pat on the back. A year after following his gut feeling to retain football coach Rich Brooks, Barnhart is all smiles as the Wildcats prepare for their first postseason appearance in seven years, a path that began last year when Barnhart kept Brooks as coach.
Barnhart isn’t one to brag about the decision he made and doesn’t want anyone to think that he told you so.
Barnhart made the correct call last year to keep his first major coaching hire on the payroll at UK for at least one more season. More... | Grid News
